PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE
WHY CHOOSE HPSO’s PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM?
This plan, offered through Healthcare Providers Service Organization (HPSO), provides you with your own individual limits of coverage in line with today’s defense costs and high court awards. In case of a lawsuit, counting on employer-provided coverage may not be enough to protect you. You are strongly urged to have your own professional liability insurance to avoid a financial crisis.
That is why the California Counseling Association (CCA) has partnered with HPSO to provide this broad professional liability insurance program.
This program, available through HPSO, is administered by Affinity Insurance Services, Inc., a member of Aon Services Group, and underwritten by the American Casualty Company of Reading, PA a CNA Company. CNA is rated A (Excellent) by the A.M. Best Company, the leading independent insurance analyst, for its financial stability and operating excellence.
OCCURRENCE COVERAGE
If a claim is filed against you, this policy will protect you no matter when the claim is made, even after you have stopped practicing, as long as the policy was in force at the time of the alleged incident.
LEGAL FEES PAID – WIN OR LOSE
Coverage through HPSO will defend your interest first and foremost. An attorney will be provided to represent you personally, when we find it necessary. Legal fees will be paid for covered claims, in addition to your liability limits – WIN or LOSE.
ACCESS TO LEGAL ADVICE
A Risk Management Help Line is available to CCA members who participate in the CCA sponsored professional liability insurance program.The Helpline offers you an opportunity to discuss the circumstances surrounding a potential claim, get advice, and reduce the possibility of a lawsuit. The Helpline is staffed with attorneys who have extensive experience in the mental health field and can provide the information you need to protect and help you. Membership in the California Counseling Association is required (CCA Membership Application).
