CCA — Working for You!

Risk Management Help Line Counselors often face crises in their practice and crisis, on occasion, can lead to a lawsuit. CCA members who participate in the CCA sponsored professional liability insurance program find help quickly when faced with potential legal action related to their practice. Due to a working relationship with ACA Insurance Trust, CCA members may be referred to the legal "help line" to get prompt advice on ways to minimize the difficulties associated with a potential problem. The attorneys who staff the help line, have done extensive research on California laws, and they have over twenty years of experience in responding to legal issues. A typical call to the help line may involve confidentiality questions. A client has been harmed, or has caused harm to others and the police may want immediate access to case notes and records. Sometimes, there is more than one professional involved in the client’s case, and the counselor is faced with the dilemma as to exactly how much information should be given. The help line can help! Free audiotapes, or CDs that explain the ways to avoid legal difficulties are available to CCA members. "Risk Management Strategies," is available by calling toll free 800-347-6647, extension 342.
