CHICANO/LATINO CAUCUS (CLC)


The mission of the Chicano/ Latino Caucus (CLC) is to establish an organization promoting professional development, advocacy, and leadership for counseling professionals who provide services to the Chicano/ Latino Community.

Membership Categories

Regular (Voting). Any person whose designated responsibilities include personnel and guidance work may be approved for Regular membership.

Associate (Voting). Persons expressing an interest in the general aims and purposes of the CCA-CLC may
be approved for Associate membership.

Student (Voting).


Events
The California Counseling Association's Chicano/Latino Caucus is proud to announce this 2008 educational event: NO LATINO LEFT BEHIND - Be informed, the Latino Eucational Gap is calling upon you. An event for counselors, administrators, social owrkdfrs, teachers, psychologists, and community activists.

WORKSHOP THEMES:
Assisting Undocumented Students in Higher Education; Address Latino Student Acheivement Gap; The 21st Century Student; The Latino Family: Getting Parents Onboard; Barriers to Success; Understanding the Latino Student: The Role of Educators.

Article I
Name and Purpose

Section 1.
Name: The name of this organization shall be the California Counseling Association (hereinafter CCA) Chicano/Latino Caucus (hereinafter CLC).

Section II.
Use of name: The name of the state association shall be employed in connection with all official business and activities of the association; and shall not be used by individuals, organizations or agencies without the approval of the CLC Executive Committee.

Section III.
Mission: As an affiliate of CCA, the mission of the Chicano/Latino Caucus (CLC) is to establish an organization promoting professional development, advocacy, and leadership for counseling professionals who provide services to the Chicano/Latino community.

Section IV.
Purposes:

Promote research, which addresses solutions to guidance and counseling issues, which impact Chicano/Latinos students.

Promote publication of written documentation featuring/highlighting successful practices and outcomes.

Support on going professional development of members.

Expand professional opportunities for members

Advocate that institutions provide quality services for the Chicano/Latino community

Advocate that graduate institutions strengthen and improve graduate training programs to address the needs of the Chicano/Latino population at all levels of education.

Planning on attending a trade/vocational school.
Citizenship not a requirement
